Mensenrechten
'Bijdragen aan een schonere en rechtvaardige wereld'.
Deze doelstelling markeerde de oprichting van de
Nationale Postcode Loterij in 1989.
in Nederland. Het afgelopen jaar werd 225 miljoen
euro geschonken aan organisaties die zich inspannen
voor natuur en milieu, sociale cohesie, ontwikkelings
samenwerking en mensenrechten. Bogaarts erkent
Human Rights
'Contributions to a more beautiful and just world'.
This goal marked the establishment of the National
Postcode Lottery in 1989. Since then, the Postcode
Lottery has grown into the largest good cause lottery
in the Netherlands. Last year alone, 225 million Euros
were gifted to organisations working hard for nature
and the environment, social cohesion, development
work and human rights. Bogaarts recognises that
sponsorship of the Awards isn't typical in terms of the
sponsorship criteria of the NPL. 'The Four Freedoms
Awards isn't exactly what we as an organisation would
consider to be a good cause. But we happily make an
exception for this important prize. The Awards actu
ally fit perfectly with one of our aims, namely to sup
port initiatives in the field of human rights. What's
more, it is a highly valued and prestigious prize which
any fundraiser for good causes is happy to have its
name connected with.'
As in so many cases, good understanding
appears to be an advantage. One of the founders of
the National Postcode Lottery, the now 89-year old
Simon Jelsma, has had close ties with the Roosevelt
ressante investering is. Imago-building is natuurlijk
Nederland.
Foundation for many years. Bogaarts: 'Jelsma has
taken the Awards completely to his heart.'
A dream team. That's how both organisations
see their co-operation with the Four Freedoms
Awards. In one respect nothing remarkable, given
a sound, trustworthy organisation such as the
Roosevelt Foundation, the initiator of the awards,
not a bad partner for a collaboration. For trustwor
thiness stands above everything else: if the client
can trust in the quality of the product and service,
then entering into an alliance is given serious con
sideration. However, it is primarily the goals of the
Four Freedoms Awards which make sponsorship an
interesting investment. Image-building is of course
an important factor, but sponsorship clear brings
with it more than brownie points with the consum
er.
Almost half of all people in the Netherlands think that a com
pany which sponsors a good cause is a brand to be seen with.
Furthermore, two fifths think more positively about that compa
ny as result, according to recent survey, by TNS NIPO, of 1,261
Dutch people of 18 years old and above, and of 538 companies
in the Netherlands.
